Recently I have been shooting outside for several hours at a time, mainly macro work. The rainy season has set in. I would like to continue shooting in the rain. I have a good cover for my camera, but I'd to figure out something that would make a good field shelter for storing my assortment of light sources and other gear, for changing lenses in, and for doing other fiddling with the gear without it getting wet. Optimally, I'd like something that's much quicker to set up and take down than a tent, and is half the size of a 1 person tent. I'm wondering about trying out some designs for a lean-to, though much of my work is on the beach where there are no supports already available.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Any good ideas for a quick and easy but very dry shelter?

You might also research options for a "rainfly". While a lot of modern tents include rainflies made for that specific tent, there are companies that sell just stand-alone rainflies.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I guess it's time to go shopping!
