If you had £450 which canon eos digital would you buy?

Hi Guys,

I'm finally going to get a digital camera, I currently have a canos eos 300 with a few nice lenses, hence me wanting to stick to canon eos models.

What would be best, a new 400D like this:

Or a 20D like this:

It depends if you are going for casual photography or prosumer models, but I personally would go with a 20D.

yep I'd agree, go with the 20D

Its for general amatuer photography. I like taking shots of pretty much anything so it has to be a good all rounder.

the 20D is a camera you can 'grow' into. Thats not to say you can't do that with a 400D but working in a camera shop I see a lot of 300D's 350D's upgraded to 20D's and 30D's

I'd still say the 20D

Well, I've just spotted that the 20D does 5fps where the 400D only does 3fps, I'm well into sportsbikes so that extra 2fps will come in handy

Between that and the consistent 20D response I think its definitely going to be the 20D

Funny this topic should come up, but I was eyeing the 400D and the 30D at the moment too.

What's this forum's opinion of the 30D? Too close in spec to the 20D to warrant the slightly higher cost?
