In a stream of muck

I pulled over on the side of the road where a stream runs by my son's school..there were 4 or 5 of these flowers growing along side of the stream. They were the only thing nice about it, because the stream was full of litter and it was just ugly...

What a striking sight it must have been to see these brilliantly colored irises bringing a touch of beauty to such an otherwise ugly spot. And since Toronto is getting a wee bit of snow today, seeing pretty flowers (onscreen) has made my day.

I like the softness of the first photo here and find it amazing how you gave that "stream of muck" some beauty back by filtering out the only things that still are beautiful about it. Your photos as they are would never suggest it was an otherwise quite unappealing area in which you took them!
