Took a trip up to Lake Lure area this weekend to visit family. We ended up staying on the north side of lake lure. I woke up early one morning and set out to see what I could find.
I was driving in a newly developed mountain community with miles of roads and few houses. I saw a small mouse or other small rodent scurry across the road and then this hawk swooped down. I pulled over yet the hawk did not get the mouse. I waited around and took photos of the juvenile redtailed hawk for a while hopping it would find the mouse. The morning light was very nice, as well as the colors of the leaves as they change in the mountains.
1)intent on hunting
2)profile portrait
3)doing a little framing between a split in a tree
4)framing of foreground OOF leaves to left
5)giving me a look
6)this is the first photo when it swooped down to look for the mouse
non hawk photos.
7)a shot from chimney rock café area of the chimney
8)the broad river near chimney rock village
9)panoramic 3 images of the broad
