International Cultural Projects: Grants, Sponsorships, Both?

Hey Everyone,

Without going into too much detail as to what I'm trying to accomplish, I'll give you a little background. I have two projects that I am looking for funding for, both international and both cultural studies. The first is a photo and video project documenting the effects of a certain type of adventure tourism in different areas of the world and how the West interacts through this small subculture with places that likely would have never had such in-your-face exposure to the West. The second is a through-the-lens look at the Middle East, with a little twist. I study Political Science, Middle East Studies, and Arabic at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and this would play into my life-goal of helping expand Western understanding of the Middle East by fostering personal connections.

I started looking into Fulbright Grants, and I was curious if anyone had an experience or could maybe input into whether or not this was an idea that would be up their alley. Additionally, other grant ideas would be helpful. Secondly, for the first idea, it might be possible to get corporate or organizational sponsors. Is it possible to combine grants with sponsorships from companies? Ethical or no?

No I have not, but I have a lot of support at the University. I don't plan on going at this alone, but I don't want this to become a UW project, I want this to be my own.

Does anyone know of any grants for projects, organizations that would sponsor things such as this, or ways to go about funding projects?
