Introduction and Hello for a newbie in Louisiana

Hello all I am new to this forum and just thought I would introduce myself. I posted this on the Beginners thread and just found the introduction thread so I thought I would post my hello here too.

I have a Nikon D80 along with a few lenses. I enjoy taking pictures of my 2.5 year old which tend to be more of candid/snapshots but without having my old point and shoot it is hard to not continue the old ritual. But I do injoy "trying" to take great photos which seems to be a hit and miss. I also like to play around with macro photography which again is a hit and miss. But hey I am new to the DSLR world and am still finding my way around. Before I bought my D80 I had a Sony Cybershot which I just simply burned it up because I just love taking pictures.

Ok that is enough about me. I hope to learn more about this board and more about photography that fits my needs anyway which is strictly hobbyist.
