iPhoto Question

i didn't know if this belonged in the "Beginner's" forum or this one, but is there a way to fix iPhoto so it doesn't automatically launch when I plug in a camera or my iPhone?

It's a hassle having to close it every time and I can't find anywhere in the preferences to turn off auto-launch.

Or...maybe another solution...is there a benefit to loading pictures onto iPhoto? I never use it because I find it much easier to organize my photos and create folders in the basic Finder.

Look in your preferences it is there and you have to uncheck it and it will not launch then.
In preferences change connecting camera opens to NO APPLICATION

I found it. It's actually in the settings for a program called "Image Capture." I had to go to my applications folder to find the program. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
