Is it a good idea to buy extra lens for a compact camera?

I've seen some telescope and wide angle lens for my compact digital camera on sale (about $70 per lens), and thought this might be good, especially for wildlife photography.

But on second thoughts, I'm wondering if extra lenses for a compact camera will have any effect (what with the compact's limitations and all). Is it worthwhile buying telescope/wide-angle lenses for a compact, or should I wait until I've got an SLR?

Personally I'd say don't bother. The little attachment lenses are not going to let you get that shot of a lion across the savannah at sunset, they're just going to darken and lengthen your lens to the point where it's just a very very low quality telephoto that you can't hand-hold.

Save up for a SLR in my opinion - there's a reason those add-ons are only $70.
