A shame about the blown parts of the hat, but good exposure on the face. Nice image.

I agree.. maybe try to bump down the exposure just on the top of the hat to bring back a little detail in it at least.

Thanks John and Bonnie...dunno if there is enough there to bring it back or not, but I'll give it a shot tonight. And just so I can learn something from this, would it have been better to meter off of the brighter part of the hat vs her face?

Yes, that is what is my understanding of how to do this. meter off the top of the hat, recompose and then shoot.
