Propping up the far side of your white paper to make an infinity curve should loose that horizon shadow.
Of the two i prefer the first shot which seems to give a clearer view of the better urchin.

From the title I was expecting a cruise ship. Jewel of the seas

Thanks for the tip Petrochemist. I had several sheets of white paper when I started.......my boy kept taking them to draw on. I think by this picture I was all out.

And I *greatly* prefer the second. That horizon "shadow", in my opinion, makes it look very beachesque to me--I can imagine that background as white sands and water off in the distance.
If it weren't the slanted horizon, I could absolutely see that hanging on someone's wall.

And that shadow horizon is actually the ocean. I agree, bummer about the slant (it was a round table top). I brought some urchins home, so I'll try to reshoot when I get some free time. "June gloom" is coming to the Los Angeles area soon, so I'll be able to recreate the lighting conditions.......or I'll finally get serious and set up a light box.
