Messing around with some new radio triggers I got for my speed light

IMO, there is way to much space above his head.
Since the upper part of the frame is blank I would suggest having the camera in horizontal/landscape orientation would have been more in accord with the horizontal fence lines.
Had he been framed in the shot using the camera in the horizontal orientation you could have better applied the rule of thirds (RoT) to have him more to the right, looking into the frame, which would add some drama, and higher in the frame adding some tension.
The exposure is good and the depth of field works, but the lighting has some issues. The bottom of his shoe is brightly lit, apparently because the flash unit was bottom left in the shot.
A second light on your camera, or even camera right, for a bit of fill would have balanced the lighting a bit more.

I cropped the frame (top & right), added a bit of fill light (dodge), sharpened his eyes, nose, ear, and added a narrow black border.

What he said ^^^

Interesting shot and looks like a fun experiment.

Keep shooting and pushing your boundaries.
