Just joined.

I've been meaning to join a good forum for a while. Since this past birthday, actually, when my boyfriend surprised me with a Nikon D3100. It's not quite professional grade, but it's a huge step up from the Kodak EasyShare Z710 I had been using for the past few years.

With nearly twice the megapixels and far more creative control, I'm beginning to feel like I can actually capture my vision. I'm no longer limited to point-and-shoot modes but I'm also no longer protected by them.

So, I'm here to learn about the finer points of photography and, hopefully, make some friends along the way!
