The 105mm macro is a great lens. Very, very sharp and the focal length let’s you get back a little further away from your subject(s) than shorter focal length macros, so less interference with light. Just a couple of thoughts. You can use that lens for general purpose photography with great results, not just macro photography. You might want to look into a ring light / strobe for low light situations. You may want to study focus stacking. As you get closer to 1:1, the DOF is extremely shallow, around the thickness of a dime, give or take. Focus stacking allows you to get a larger DOF by blending together images taken at different focal planes. I usually use PS for focus stacking, but it can be done in LRc and many other Post Processing programs.
