Just upgraded and have some questions

Hi all, I have just upgraded from a Sony DSC-F717 to a Nikon D3100. This is the third step in my journey as a hobby photographer. I started out with a 2MP PAS, then moved onto the F717. I figured I was ready for DSLR and wanted an HD video and still camera. From the steps above, is there any advice on what I should or shouldn't be doing, from the experiences of others that have taken these steps listed above?

I'd say that now you're using an SLR, try to experiment with a variety of different lenses to get an idea about what lenses are best for different situations. You won't look back now you've moved upto the SLR level!

Sounds good. I like macro, so when looking into a macro lens, what should I be looking for?
