Can't figure out how to change the title, but this is a Juvenile Black-Crowned Night Heron

Juveniles are not particularly keen about being in full sun, so they tend to hang in the shadows, close to the edge of the water.

Nice shot how do you tell juvenile yellow crowns from juvenile back crowns

Well, you know, I went to my bird source, Cornell and danged if it's not a Black-crowned Night Heron. White Spots on the Wings and streaks on the chest give it away as a juvenile.
 
They are much like the red tails... their simple color scheme is really undeservedly underappreciated. Very nice pic.
