Interesting shot, I wasn't sure I liked the very shallow DOF in this shot at first but the more I look the more it seems to be working for me.
 
I really like the way you've done this shot and the faming as well.
The shallow DOF works very well here and your composiition is just right.
The choice of B&W suits this subject well IMO.
 
I wouldn't have said "anti-smoking" when I first saw this. Actually, I saw a strange kind of beauty in this shot (yes I am a smoker, and that has nothing to do with what I thought!), I think it's partially the smoke and the detail of the ash but it looks a little age-old, worn and mysterious. Great capture.
 
hah, i actually never thought of the anti-smoking bit, but i guess it could make sense. I was actually going for what mad_malteaser described, a tad antique, and a bit classy, like a jazz house i suppose.
 
Well I do believe you hit the nail on the head. I prefer the first shot out of the two, but technically speaking the second one is superb.
