To me the background is very distracting and find myself looking at it more than the subject. Also the subject looks to be out of focus as well. Try using a flash on the bottom right side of the subject...just an idea i would try

yeah, iwas thinking the same thing. i think i did a manual focus on this one.. twas dark and i suck at manual focus sooo.. there you go
