Is the DOF too shallow to make this picture effective? Would increasing the DOF to show the reflection behind the leaf help this image?

For future postings of photos that are stored in Photobucket I suggest you use the third line ([IMG tags]) instead of the first, for using their third line makes sure the photos will actually show in your thread, whereas using their first line plus our insert-image icon no longer work. The photo will not show, we'll only get a link.

As to your question if DOF is too shallow here my very simple answer: No.
It is not.

I like the photo as it is, and what counts is the reflection of the leaf in the puddle, and that is clear. The background is ok as it is.
