What lenses can I actually get away with using with the Nikon film duplicator that will be low cost and usable with the D7500 ttl system?

reading the manual the D7500 is NOT supposedly able to work the TTL light meter system if connected to a lens that has a MANUAL ring for the aperture.

BH photo suddenly has a large amount of short lenses in inventory and id really like a definite answer to what lenses, and lens/extender tube combinations will work.

Have read of people using far too many lenses from 30-100mm focal length with tubes to use these devices and NO ONE said to be using the two listed lenses by nikon

40mm micro is the designed focal length for APS-C (DX).

im still curious as to how people got it to work with alto of other focal lengths.

With an Aps -c (DX) SENSOR, THE 40MM MACRO gives a perfect 35mm slide or negative image....with a longer lens, you would likely crop into the image area of a 35mm slide. With a shorter lens, like a 35mm, you would likely have an image area wider than 24x36mm.

One caveat: if you want to shoot a life-size image with a short lens like a 35 mm, you will need an especially short extension ring, such as the Nikon K- Series rings. Using the shortest standard extension tube which is 11 mm, most 35 mm lenses will have the point of focus inside the actual lens Barrel, rendering them absolutely useless for photography.

does the lack of ttl metering of the d7500 with manual aperture control lenses, make any issue to the copying of film negatives

If you add a tube to extend the distance of the film-holder from the front of the lens, a 50, 55, or 60mm lens would work.

With a manual focus lens on a D7500, you will have zero flash metering and zero continuous light metering...All exposure inputs will be up to you...flash, aperture, and shutter speed, as well as ISO, will be up to you. If you have an AF, af-d, Afs, or G series lens, then the D7500 exposure and flash metering will work. You need a lens that focuses close.
