Lens help for 35mm?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Nikon F5 and now looking into lenses. I will be shooting commercial and glamour shots. I have looked into Nikkor, Sigma, Tamron, and kenko lenses. I would like to know what lens would deliver that sharp quality. I thought about getting a Nikkor 24-85 f2.8 or f1.4.

What do you guys think of New Sigma and Tamron lenses? Any suggestions on Macro lens?

the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 is considered one of nikons sharpest lenses for under 600 USD. The 85 f/1.8 is also considered to be very sharp, but the 85 f/1.4 is considered slightly more soft, but gives much better bokeh. The 24-85 f/2.8-4 AF-D is a pretty good lense, for portraits it might be very nice because of it's relatively low aperature. but for shooting portraits and glamour, you might want something that has an even lower f number.

Some Sigma lenses are extremely nice. their 12-24 DC is an extremely sharp and contrasty lense. their 70-210 APO is also very nice, especially for portraits because it can maintain f/2.8 throughout the zoom range.

I'd look at these lenses:
Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 <--- good prime lense fast.
Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 <--- very fast good lense.
Sigma 70-210 f/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8 <---good quality, but cheaper
Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 <--- manual focus
Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 <--- manual focus <--- i've heard some consider legendary.
Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR <-- Vibration reduction
Nikkor 105mm f/2 DC <--- very nice portrait lense w/ defocus control
Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC <--- very nice portrait lense w/ defocus control

honestly I prefer sigma lenses rather than nikkor... Sigma is a bit lighter

First of all, thank you so much CONTRA AND MENTOS 007 for helping me out. You have no idea how much this helps me. I just bought myself a SIMGA 14MM F2.8 (I am gonna have sell whole lotta lemonade.....LOL) I have not gotten it but am whole heartedly anxious to use it. I am also looking into SIGMA 50-500MM lens which can be a good lens for vacations.
