Lens Recommendation

I'm looking for a recommendation if I should get a new lens. Currently I have the lens that came with my Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6; and a 50mm f/1.8.

I mainly shoot photos of my young children. I love the lower aperature and a blurry background.

I like the 50mm, but sometimes I don't like that it is fixed and the shot is just too close (in this situation I don't have anymore space to move back).

I'm not sure that my kit lens is the best for what I like to do and if there is a different zoom lens that would work better for me.

What lens do you recommend and why do you think it is a good lens?

I included a couple pictures that I like how they turned out (with the blurry background). These were taken with my 50mm.

Yep the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 has been my main workhorse for 3yrs now.

And gives that great isolation that an f2.8 lens can give.
