I was out shooting some sky cloud pics as Hurr. Ida blew past. I got this shot, which I was pretty happy with, but everytime I look at it, the first thing that hits me is that the horizon looks off. But it isn't, just the darkness of the sky on one end and the shoreline creating the optical illusion I guess. Or maybe i'm seein' things?

It's the blue gap between the clouds and the water. It gets smaller as you move to the right. If you extend the cloud line to the water the illusion will go away.

I love the angles, the water, the horizon, the clouds, the wood. Great!

optical illusion = seeing things

I think the uneven darkening of the clouds on either end creates a disturbing imbalance. It may also be the larger part of the optical illusion (seeing things) that makes one think the horizon isn't level.

Try looking at it when you're not high.

Just kidding

Great photo!

great pic, and great example of an illusion. I liked it. Even when I was not high! (loved that Canosonic...)
