Light meter question

I want something that I can use for my photography as well as for when I light film sets which are continuous. I am pretttty sure that the "ambient" setting on this meter is for using continuous lights but can someone just clarify it for me please? Thank you

Ambient light i believe is the constant light in the room or area, so i think your right but im not completely positive so someone else help on this one.
