I would like to buy a light meter but I have no idea where to start. I have a Nikon D50 and would like a digital meter in my price range of $250 - $400.
I have found the following 2 meters so far and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or opinions or perhaps other suggestions:

Polaris Digitial Exposure Meter
Sekonic L3085 Flashmate Meter

I would like something that I can use for both ambient light and flash.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've heard many recommendations for the Sekonic L3085. You might also want to look at something from Minolta.

Sorry, never hear of the L3085. Do you happen to mean the L308S? If so, with your budget you might want to look into the L358. Has spot metering capabilities (with an additional attachment) and wirless flash trigger (again with an additional attachment) if you get into studio work.
