Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
It's been a long time since I've built a sideshow in LR, and I've run into a problem. I built a "collection" of images from several different file folders, by dragging and dropping. Once the "collection" was complete I reordered the images by dragging and dropping. So far all is good, when I click on play the slides display in proper order. The problem occurs when I click on create save a slideshow. The newly created saved file has all the images but the order is all messed up. Anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??

I've made a few using LRC, but there are not many options to check. Did you check the make virtual copies box? Maybe that will save them in the order you wanted.

When I ticked virtual copy it made virtual copies AND included the originals mixed up. I believe it has something to do with the fact that I didn't export JPEG copies to the Collection file (I did drag and drop of the raw files from the subject folders).. In any case I worked around it by exporting (without creating/save).

The task -slide show- sounds similar to one of my regular bits when I create a talk to Seniors in aged-care homes. Like you I copy the JPGs into a fresh folder, get some sort of sequence right THEN use the O.S [Windows in my case] to rename each image. "Image (1)" and the O.S then renames everything else as (2) - (3) - (4) etc

This way preserves my originals in their dedicated folders and with whatever name I game them originally
Hope this helps

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The first advantage to editing in LR is it's nondestructive, you can make editing changes to a (Raw/tiff/Psd) file at any time. The 2nd advantage to Lr, Ps, and Bridge is they are designed to integrate with each other. By dragging and dropping a (Raw/tiff/Psd) file from another directory into a "Collection" it automatically makes a duplicate view of the original in the ""Collection". If I later edit the original location, the views in ""Collections" are automatically updated to the current edit.

If I first export an original file to a JPEG, the original editing is locked to that specific image, any editing i do to the original doesn't update to the JPEG. Lr also has the ability to create a "Virtual Copy". It's like a clone/stamp of the original at that exact point in time, that you can use as a separate image same as if it was the original(Raw/tiff/Psd) file, but like a JPEG all editing up to that point is locked in, but new editing is nondestructive.

By creating a slide show in Lr using "Collections" tied to the originals i don't have to duplicate editing changes.
