I'm not a steam buff but I do think that steam engines are interesting photo subjects. This was taken as the train was leaving Whitby on one of its regular runs.

Thanks for all of your comments. The North Yorkshire Railway is a dedicated heritage railway near the East coast but I am lucky enough to live somewhere within easy reach of one of the more popular mainlines used by these steam specials. There are many operators of steam locomotives that are licenced for the main line network.

@Dean_Gretsch - One of the more popular routes near here is the Settle to Carlisle line which hasn't been electrified. It is therefore free of electrification infrastructure and because of its history, many of the smaller country stations have been restored to retain their original Victorian character. Ideal backdrops for this genre of photography.
