Now this is a vessel!

This is the heaviest load ever transported over Alberta Highways.

On Saturday it was between Wandering River and Mariana Lakes.

travels 10 - 15 km/hr

seven Premay tractors - three pulling and four pushing - most
tractors were tri-axle

1.7 million pounds

It took 9 days to get from Edmonton to Suncor.

What is it!!!!???
Definately heavy..... hahaha

It's a coker fractionator, which separates the various crude oil products.

DACRO...Specialist in building heavy ass sh@t!!! Imagine that breaking loose and rolling down the interstate at 6 km/hr squishing everything in it's path!!!! and the hell it would be to stop it from rolling. great for crushing cans. :D

I don't get the sense of assembling a thousand-ton cylinder somewhere and then deciding to send it down the highway to reach its destination. Maybe this is kind of an ignorant question, but why not build it where it belongs?
Imagine the workspace and time needed to build it. And it'd take specialist tools and equipment. Makes more sense to build it at a place designed to build stuff like that. It's cheaper, quicker and safer.
