I'm stoked!

I've never even tried anything with film photography before, so I sense a steep learning curve coming up... I'll be around here often, I think .

Gotta love freebies

Darn straight! That's how I got my FE.

As for your score, congrats. I've never used an MV, but I bet it's a great camera. I "learned" on a Pentax K1000 and still love it. Can't wait to see the shots you get.

my friends got an Pentex ME Super pentax's all have a sleek look maybe because they're all black anyways id like to see some pics

Bear in mind this is the first time I've ever done this...

I finished the roll, went to wind it back in and it kind of 'cracked' as i wound it back, then it suddenly went slack and I was winding for ages, thinking 'wow, this is a long roll of film!'. After a while, I opened the back and that jumped out at me!

Turns out there's a useful little button that stops that from happening... why, oh why didn't I check how to do this before just assuming it was a simple task...? Lesson well learned, I suppose :blushing:

The camera seems fine despite my assault.

First roll of film is done :D

Here's two of the best: (photos of photos, hence the quality)...

Both of these were taken in my garden with a 50mm prime.

The 28-70mm centon lens shown above, has some issues. It often locks at 70mm and the iris locks at f22... very annoying! The zoom can be temporarily fixed by taking the lens off the camera and flicking the (pardon my complete lack of technical terminology here) little flicky thing that releases the iris to the set aperture when the shutter opens. But the shutter ALWAYS takes pictures at f22... nothing I can do about it.... so the majorty of my pictures were heavily underexposed.

Now here's the question... Do I send it somewhere to get fixed? If so, where? Or do I buy a new one? They're pretty cheap on ebay. Or... do I buy a new lens, which will be more suited to my style of photography, but considerably more expensive and might become obselete when I move to a digital SLR (which will definately happen in the next few years) if I choose not to keep using pentax?

Arrrgghhh! I hate difficult decisions!

Cross forum referencing is fun :D

I'm thinking I know you from somewhere too....

On topic. I think the shots look good for being pics of pics. As far as lenses go, I think I think I would search ebay for something that suits your style of shooting and doesnt break the bank.

I'm thinking this will be a good idea. I'm watching a few bargains right now, so I'll keep you updated on progress.

Any idea how much a repair will cost on the broken lens? The nearest place is a good few miles away and I dont wanna go there just to find out it will cost a fortune to fix  And what's the worst that can happen if I take some screwdrivers to it myself?
