I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions/comments on tripods that they like/dislike. I am in the market for a new tripod for shooting mostly landscapes. The only things that I know I would like is one with snap locks on the legs rather then the twist locks and one that is slightly lighter in weight. I am looking for Santa to bring me a tripod, so price really isn't that much of a concern.

Never get a cheapie. I have Quantaray and I know how weak it is. Manfrotto I think, have a good standing among the pros.

I bought a Manfrotto earlier this year. It's a good solid piece of equipment.

big fan of manfrotto. I have 2, a studio one (heavy as it can be) and a lighter one for trucking around. really sturdy, never had any problems.

Manfrotto/Bogen line is sturdy and very functional. You can't go wrong with this line. I use it and I also use a Manfrotto/Bogen unipod.

I'm with Mitica a beefy beefy tripod, and a beefy monopod. ;)

Worst case scenerio you can beat up anyone who tries to steal your camera with them. Probably wouldn't even need a second swing. ;)
