Looking for input

Here are a couple of shots I took yesterday in a snow storm. I have experience shooting underwater and controlling backscatter, but on land everything is different.

I would like any input on how to make sharper images in similar situations.

I struggle with snow also, it seems to suck the color out of things, especially in the mid tones. Here's your first with some boost to the mid tones, a tad more white, and some split toning on the highlights and shadows. It's a personal taste but I like to add a little blue in the smow.
