Hi everyone!

I will be very happy if you can help me. I have an Olympus C-8080 widezoom. Recently I decided to try some macro photography, but there are no macro lenses offered by Olympus for this model. A friend of mine recommended me Hoya 58 mm macro lenses. However I am a novice and I am not sure if these are compatible with C-8080.

I will appreciate your help!

Thank you and excuse me if my question is a "laic" :)

Welcome to the forum.

I checked the specs and your camera will focus at 5cm in macro mode. That should give you quite a lot of magnification. That's one good thing about these point & shoot digi-cams with their small sensors...they can get nice and close in macro mode. Give that a try and see if that's what you are after.

You may want to use a tripod or other support and use the self timer. The flash was probably not intended for close up work so another light source may be best.

You may be able to attach a close-up filter to your lens, check if you have threads on the front of your lens, and find out the diameter (58mm for example).

Hi Big Mike!

Thank you very much for the reply!:D
Yes C-8080 has a decent macro function. I made a lot of tests with insect photography: you may look at two samples at http://http://k.1asphost.com/kroki/gardenofgodsI.jpg and

The problem that bothers me is that these are crops of a higher resolution images. I was thinking of something 1:1;)

Yes - the diameter of c-8080 is 58 mm and it has threads on the lens. So there remains one sure way to prove what I asked - trying.

Thanks again for the information. Hope to share the results with you soon!
Wish you good luck and nice shots
