Make a flower bloom?

I am shooting a bunch of photos to make a time lapse for school. I really want to get a shot or two of flowers blooming but it is forecast to be cloudy the next two weeks. There are tons of flowers around my house just waiting to open up but have been sitting around all closed up because of the recent gray weather. My question is, If I used one of those sun lamps used in a terrarium for lizards and such, could I get a flower to bloom?

Why not just do a different time lapse? Do the clouds moving or people on the street.
