Max Sync Speed- Speedlight 430exii

So, apparentely I was a good enough girl in Santa's book to merit getting a Speedlight 430 EXii this Christmas

I shoot on a Rebel XTi... I know the max sync speed there is 1/200. But when I try to shoot on the Speedlight, it doesn't seem to be allowing me to use it above 1/200. What adjustments do I need to make to fix this?

There's a button on the back that is the high-speed flash sync button. It's the one right between the 'Mode' and the 'Zoom' button. Be aware that a sync faster than 200 will result in a reduced power output from the flash.

Awesome... Found it! so now my question is... how do I turn that off? :lmao:
And what does it mean when your flash screen is flashing? i'm guessing a low battery? The Pilot light is also red.

Keep pressing it? The manual for the Canon speed lights is amazing.

Yeah, I found one online... I'm just in a bind because I'm shooting an engagement session for a friend tomorrow, so I'm having to do a lot of last minute cramming. Just got the speedlite at Christmas and

I'm not charging her... and I've told her she's my guinea pig. But I'd still like to give them something they can be proud of.

I've felt pretty confident up until now actually.
I guess this is what you'd call pre-engagement jitters
