Max - you pm'd me with your concerns when your post was moved, and I explained why I moved it. I thought that was the end of it since you didn't respond to my explanation, yet now, days later, you are choosing to post in a petulant tone for all to view, so I will respond in kind. The moderator team moves plenty of posts that seem misdirected in Critique, and yours was one of them that night. Not the only one, just one of them. Please don't make it personal!
People come to TPF in part to post their images and, hopefully, get some useful feedback. The Critique forum was started as an educational tool for those times when a member had a very specific problem regarding an image, and needed help. We ask that you post your *problem* image with your technical data, and state what you were trying to accomplish and why you need critique with your efforts. In other words, it is supposed to be an image you're NOT happy with. It's a pretty straightforward concept.
We have re-vamped the rules for posting in the Critique forum. We'd like our members to read them, and ask themselves before they post an image in Critique if it really falls into that category, or if just general comments and feedback will suffice. If it's the latter, we ask that you please continue to post your images in the specific Gallery best represented by your shot. Again - pretty straightforward.
Given the ratio between active members and available moderators, there are indeed plenty of images that slip by. The TPF staff cannot, and won't pretend to be able to, zealously guard this particular forum from misuse - so yes, you will at times find quickly moved threads, and brief reminders to please review the forum rules. No one is on a power trip or trying to upset anyone, we're just trying to keep the place from being overrun.
This forum's pace has really shot up from when it was first originated a couple of years ago. We are trying not to let it turn into another "general gallery" for general critique. It is intended for very specific use only.
So, we must ask that you think carefully before you post your images and, when you do post in General or one of the other galleries, to please be patient when waiting for comments. There is nothing wrong with using the General Gallery for feedback - except that it is BUSY! So, please let me also remind you that it is perfectly okay to *bump* your image back to the top of the page, if it's a particularly busy posting day and you haven't received any comments. It happens! Don't be afraid to shoot your image back to the top and try again.
Anyone who has suggestions on how to use the Critique forum or the Galleries is encouraged to post them in the Suggestions & Feedback forum or shoot someone on the staff a PM. Maybe there is a magic bullet solution that the moderators haven't thought of. I think our members are a pretty smart, resourceful group. If you have ideas, the team would love to hear from you!
