Memory card problem

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a canon d600 and put in a sd memory card into the camera and formatted it. I've taken a few pictures and can view them on the camera screen but when I put sd card into laptop, the laptop wants to format the card. I'm confused as I don't want to lose my pictures.

Have you tried another memory card reader and/or another computer? It's possible that there is something wrong with the card reader in the laptop.

Hi, I've found the solution! My laptop reader is not compatible with the sdxc format. I need a USB 3 reader I think. Shouldn't be too difficult I hope.
