Metz vs Canon

Looking at these two flashes.
Can you please offer your ideas
Metz 58 AF-1 Digital Flash or the Canon 580EX II
For a Canon 350D. I amleaning towards the Metz

I've got a 350D and the 580EX (and a 430EX for that matter too) and find they work very well together, especially so with the ST-E2. I know that at one time you always used to get better integration with the camera manufacturers own flash kit, but I don't know whether that is still the case, especially when you're talking Metz gear. Why are you favouring the Metz gear, presumably you've seen something that suggests this may be the better option?

If you have a Canon camera, and the budget for the 580 EX II, then there is no question. Buy the Canon and get all of the functionality of ETTL.
