In 1884, the local regiment (later to be called the Berkshire Regiment) got shredded at the battle of Maiwand in the second Afghan war. To commemorate the event a very large cast iron statue of a lion was erected in the Forbury Gardens, Reading. I've always liked to photograph the thing, I thought a foggy morning would give a different view....which I obtained from the churchyard across the road. I felt that the foliage would be a nice frame....thoughts?
