ok, if you've read my post on the ipod or if you havent it doesnt really matter but regardless im getting a gift certificate in the mail to circuit city for the price of the ipod and im not sure if i have to buy an ipod to replace the old one or whether i can spend the money as i choose. i know someone had a thread about mp3 players a while back and all the prices were in pounds. so does anybody know of any good reliable mp3 players for under $300 US? thanks for the help!

I can't help with suggestions. I thought about getting one but couldn't be arsed to spend that amount of money, put cd's on my hdd, convert them, put them on the mp3 player... etc. Seemed liked too much fuss. I may just buy a cheap portable cd player with jog protection instead.

I've got one of these little guys and can't say enough about it. Definitely fits in your price range for 512mb or 1Gb

hmm thats a good price but i need something with more memory. has anyone gotten one of these http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7161741&productCategoryId=pcmcat10200050002&type=product&cmp=++&id=1110265594499amazon.com says that you can pre-order them so im assuming that they arent out yet. also the store i need to purchase it from, circuit city, doesnt have them in yet, but they are sold out of the old model so i imagine that they will be getting the new one in soon. i like this one because of the size and it has the ability to view jpegs which is cool. so has anyone heard anything about these?
