Ok! Here's my 1st Thread on TPF.

I am a new photographer, with absolutely no supplies to work with!

Here is how I managed to do this picture:

1. I sat my daughter on my couch (creating the black backdrop);
2. I sat a junky, old table lamp beside her (creating the lighting effect);
3. I threw some old Christmas deco infront of her (creating the props);
4. I took the picture. No clue about ISO, nothing!

Please, Be Nice! I'm Here To Learn.

not bad at all, I actually like, it's a little plain but given the equipment, it's pretty good. I think the lighting fit the dress well and have a Christmast feeling to it.

Pretty good job of McGuyvering the entire portrait! Her dress's waist band is a bit overexposed, but the overall rich, warm,moody lighting is nice.

I see you are from NB, and am not sure if others know McGuyver, but you did an excellent McGuyver job!

Urban Dictionary: McGuyver

i must congratulate u on photographing her so beautifully....ur learning is in right direction.

Not BAD at all. The only thing I'd recommend is change the white balance, the extra warmth really bothers me personally.

Thanks so much! The comments & suggestions really help. It's definitely a struggle taking a portrait of a 4 month old, by yourself.. ha! I'll see what else I can do in PS (I'm still trying to work some of the tools out).
