My first Barred Owl had to shoot at 1.0 sec

Fantastic!!! I need to get on the hunt for some owls. I love those guys. Great photo Snowy. Always impressed with your work.

Thanks appreciate the kind words

Very nice find and capture! Why was raising the ISO not an option?

Thanks. Yes I did raise to a higher iso on some shots. I was talking to a photographer the other day who shot for AP for 30 years and is now an award winning bird photographer who told me told trying shooting at very low iso no matter what and see what I get. He said the keeper rate will down but you'll get a few nice ones with no noise at all.

This one I shot at 12,800 iso f5.6 1/80 sec 700mm

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I must admit, for me, if I have to shoot below 1/100 sec. I may as well shoot at 1 sec. :) This image still has impressive detail for such a high ISO. That is one cool creature!

Incredible! I love the owl's pose. I've been trying to track down owls for a couple months..

1 second???? It is nuts how great that looks, non the less for a 1 sec shot!
Good job! :)
