Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Recently my Mac computer stop reading my d3100, I tried with my USB and also connecting the my camera card directly to my Mac. Anyone have an idea of why? Please help.

I recently got Lightroom 4. I wonder if that has anything to do with that.

Thank you

Do you get any kind of an error message?

What application do you use to upload? Your D3100 came with View NX on the software disc, your Mac has an uploadng application, as does LR 4.

stick your card into the built in card reader?

I tried with the card as well. I had my Nikon for over a year now, and this is the first time this is happening. KmH, I believe I dont have the software anymore. Is there anywhere online I can find it? Thank you guys for your help.

What software are you referring to?

As far as Nikon View NX, go to nikonusa.com - Service and Support.

Are you talking about Apples Image Capture utility not showing up when you plug your camera in any more? If so, its a simple fix...

Go into 'Applications' and launch Image Capture... Plug in your camera... In the bottom left hand corner there is a drop down with a few options.. Make sure you set it to launch when your camera is plugged in.

Let me know if you need some screen shots.

PS. You can also check the 'Cameras' setting in the system preferences.

Great, It worked when I launch Image Capture. Thank you The Lost. I wonder why it stop working with my camera card.

On most Nikons, there is a setting in the camera set-up controls called "USB" (in USB-equipped cameras), and "Firewire" in older pro Nikons. Under this are two options--Mass Storage and PTP. This determines WHAT the computer is supposed to "do with" the camera when it is cable-connected. On older software and cameras, the user had to make sure the correct drive status was selected, manually; perhaps in newer software situations, apps like Image Capture Utility can make this choice if prompted???

MAYBE you accidentally made a control change in the camera set-up choices?

Thanks Derrel, I am about to check my camera now, Maybe I just accidentally did.

If Image Capture isn't coming up automatically then something turned it off on the Mac... It's super easy to re-enable.. just plug in the camera, launch image capture, click on the little triangle in the bottom left corner and change it from "no application" to "Image Capture"
