The ongoing saga of copyright of a monkey's selfie ..

Appeals court rejects copyright protection for monkey’s selfie

"But animals have no legal ability to hold copyright claims, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said in its decision, which also questioned PETA’s motives in bringing the case. “PETA seems to employ Naruto as an unwitting pawn in its ideological goals,” the court wrote in a footnote."

In today's Los Angeles Times there is an article on this stating that monkey's can't sue.
Ah, but the monkey's personal secretary, his butler, his housekeeper, his chef, his chauffeur, his valet, his chief financial advisor, his lawyer, and his gardener CAN sue.

good. it was a ridiculous ruling to begin with.

The monkey got a new lawyer, Mighty Joe Young, who is appealing the case to the High Court of The Planet of the Apes.

They have no standing.

The 9th Circuit has left this open. The monkey has standing as an animal. The monkey does not have control over the copyright.

Luckily Monkey's can stand.
And they have opposing thumbs in order to hold a camera and take a picture.
