I'm pretty sure I would have been done right after my conversation with the assignment editor. "You want me to get pictures of a WHAT???? IN the water??" "You're on crack!"

I would MUCH rather photograph Grizzly Bears than seals - at least on land I have a [very] slim chance. In the water? Nada.

I heard this guy speak while I was in school, and this story is nothing. If you stop the video at 8 seconds (the photo of the polar bear shaking its head), was taken with a 70-200. He basically said that the bear was coming to eat him until it fell through the ice.
