Need help (image example inside)

I just shot this today ISO 400 with -/+ 2 EV @ F8

I created the HDR with Photomatrix Pro and then tone mapped it...but I can't seem to get rid of these black areas that for some reason just WILL NOT go away. Anyone got an idea as to why they are in the photo? Oh...and there's also the really bright white area in the photo too...not sure why...

Your not using v3.1 with a canon dslr? If you are move on to 3.1.2 or later 3.2.7 is the latest there was a known issue with
canon raw files not rendering properly in photomatix 3.1 not sure if this applies to you

That looks like the 'shadow clipping' slider effect. I'd move that slider all the way (to the left or right... can't remember - left probably) so it's not used at all - you'll see the difference between one and the other.

If that doesn't take care of it then I have no idea what the problem is. Good luck!
