Hi every1,

I am a mere beginner in DSLR photography. I have used compact digital cameras earlier. I have a passion for photography and planning to buy a DSLR camera.

Browsing through some articles on web I have understood that there are some aspects we need to consider in choosing a camera.

First is the kind of photography u do: I am interested in Landscapes, macros and portraits.

I found canon EOS 500D is suitable for this.

Can some1 enlighten me on what lens we get with the kit they provide?
I also wanted to shoot indoor photography. What is the lens that i should opt for that?

It would be highly appreciated if some1 explains about crop factor and how does it effect the pics we shoot.

Thanks,
Mithilesh

I think the kit lens is normally an EF 18-55mm.

The camera needs light. Lens aperture and camera shutter speed control the amount of light coming in.
The slower the shutter speed, the greater the chance that camera movement will cause blurring of the image. So when the amount of light gets low, like indoors, the shutter speed will get slower.

So you either add more light (ie Flash), increase the sensor ISO (the image gets noisier), get a lens with a wider aperture.

A lot of photographers pick up the EF 50mm lense for low light.
