Need to set camera body to manual focus when using Sigma 17-50 F2.8 HSM in manual focus?

Greetings,

According to the user manual, we don't need to set the Nikon camera's body to manual focus if using "AF-S" lenses that have been set to manual focus (unlike with "AF" lenses).

But what about in the case of this Sigma lens? Should the Nikon camera body be also set to manual focus when using the Sigma in manual focus?

Just put sigma switch in manual, don't worry about cam. The issue was before hsm motors there was a screw drive going from cam to lens, this had to be disengaged for manual focus, that's not relevant for the non screw drive lenses
