New and Need Tips!

Hey Guys/Gals,

First off I am completely new to photography..I have been interested in picking up a camera to photoshoot my car and to take pictures in general..So I recently just picked up a Sony A100..I know its not the best camera out there but it should do with what lens comes with it..18-70 i think? Anyways, I was wondering what you guys could suggest or point out to me to help me start off with some great pictures..

Any advice on what to use or how to use which controls or functions of the camera?

I have heard about shutter speed and aperture but don't know what it is..or how to adjust it..

I know, noob..but please bare with me..I am a quick learner and hope to pick this up asap and get to snapping..
