Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I just received this handsome little guy in the mail...Asahi Pentax S1a. Perhaps nothing too special, but I'm very happy with it. Will take it for a test run on the weekend with some film.

The camera also came with a Super-Takumar 55mm f/2. I put that lens on my XTi and used it to photograph the very camera it came with...love this lens!

Nice camera. OK, I am a bit partial to M42 Pentax cameras; I learnt the basics of photography with my dad's Spotmatic Fand 50mm f/1.4 SMC. When the light meter failed and could not be repaired, I bought another SP-F and this is still my main camera today. As you are probably aware, they are a lot of M42 lenses around. Some of them are really good and fairly cheap. Here is a website dedicated to M42 lenses. Have fun with your new camera. :)

Thanks guys, for $11 you can't go wrong! I think the S1a came just before the Spotmatic, so there's no light meter. I get to use EV charts...sounds like a cool challenge.

Good pick up for $11. It looks very well made so hopefully it lasts you a long time.

Nice find, but how did you mount the the Pentax on the XTi?

Hi Early,

You can mount many old lenses to the Canon EOS system through adapters. It's great because I have lots of old lenses that all work on my XTi. I used an M42 to EOS adapter (from eBay for $15) and can use all my screwmount lenses. The lens becomes totally manual of course, with aperture and focus controlled manually using the lens controls. You can also mount Nikon, Olympus OM, and Pentax k-mount to the XTi. Check out the links:

OK, thanks! It's a bummer with me, though. I need to interchange Nikon, Minolta, and Leice R.

That's a shame. We can lure you to the Dark Side though...get a Canon, get a Canon.........
