I am making a pricing brochure for an upcoming photo shoot (it's a beauty pageant). This is a tri-fold 5.5x17 brochure. The image you see on the top it the (from left to right) the inside fold, back and front cover. The bottom is the full inside page spread.

What do you think? Professional looking?

dpolston, I think it looks great, really professional. Who will be getting them, the contestants or others?

The contestants ant the escorts parents. This is purely informational about their event only (it's kind of an expencive handout but I'm going for the "wow" factor). I am going to have other brochures for the guest and make it more for advertising purposes.

These cost around 2 dollars a piece before cutting and folding.

I had to rework some of the photos (I moved a couple around) and the inside is all B&W now.

Do you have any shots from actual beauty pageants?

There is nothing wrong with the photos you have here...but they don't say 'beauty pageant' to me.

If you are doing a handout specifically for this event, I would want it to look more specific to the event.

Just my opinion. :)

No I don't. This is a new event for me with a new photographer for them, which is also me. These photos represent my portrait work as a whole. I'm shooting portraits not doing event coverage. This is pretty much a "Howdy" to the new parents thing.

I am actually photographing the headshots (prior to the event for the newspaper, pageant program and display at the event). I will also take studio style portraits during the competition (in another room) of the formal wear, casual and play wear. The only competition shots I am taking are the awards at the very end.

No offense, but the kid in the bottom right has a lot of freckles, at first I thought it was sand on his face (now I feel bad).

I thought that might be the case...which is OK. You have to go with what you have. The layout and design look good...I just wish there were more smiles :D

It looks really good! I agree with Big Mike: a few more smiles would be great! The only thing I don't like about your layout is how you cover the girls face in the upper left corner. The text and the photo is competing for attention. I like what you did in the bottom right corner with covering the not so important part of the image with text on the grey area.

The whole thing looks great, though I'd vote for removing the old guy at the top and stick with just kids. The upper page with all the text is a problem too. If it's important enough to say, it should be easily read.

I think David Polston Photography would be better. No one except for art directors care if you are freelance or not. The body text is not bad, but the photo seems to be competing with it. I would go b&w with the photo. And is that a slash mark or hair across her eye? I like the kid with the freckles, but I do not think it is going to read so well when the deal is folded.

Love & Bass
