New camera

just got a new fuji finepix s6500fd. Am fairly new to this so any tips.

have read manual over and over. Some of the explanations of camera settings for different picture situations are very very daunting.

am going out soon just to photograph everything and hopefully learn from my mistakes , but any tips would be very much appriciated

Understanding Exposure (by Bryan Peterson)
if you haven't read this book yet- do it. you'll learn a lot.

it's good to know how to use your camera- but if you can't develop your artistic eye, you'll always be stuck as the same stage.
